Arsenal news: The Gunners are working to extend the contracts of William Saliba, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. The trio have played a key role in the London outfit’s excellent start to the league campaign.

William Saliba has been a revelation this season after returning from his loan spell with Ligue 1 club Marseille. He has played eight Premier League games this term, scoring two goals and assisting one more.

Last season’s Arsenal Player of the Season Bukayo Saka started the current season where he left off the last term. The England international has registered one goal and four assists in eight league appearances.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Martinelli has also been in a rich vein of form. He has scored three goals and assisted one more in eight English top-flight outings.

The Gunners manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the Premier League leaders are in talks to extend the contracts of Gabriel Martinelli, William Saliba, and Bukayo Saka.

Speaking to the media, he said: “Yes, Edu is on top of it. We want to reward the players that have a big future for the club. We’ll try to do things in the right way, to plan in the best possible way”.

The trio have entered the final two years of their respective contracts at the club. However, the London outfit reportedly have an option to extend Saka and Saliba’s contract for an extra year and Martinelli’s contract for two extra years.

The Gunners eyeing a move for Marcus Rashford

According to talkSPORT, Arsenal is eyeing a move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

The England international is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford. He could leave the club on a Bosman deal next summer. Though the Red Devils have an option to extend his contract for one extra season, they are yet to exercise their clause. It remains to be seen what the future holds for him.

Rashford is among the most talented English attackers of his generation. He has played 211 Premier League games for the Manchester outfit so far, scoring 62 goals.

The 24-year-old attacker was included in the UEFA Europa League Team of the Season 2019-20 and has also won the Premier League Player of the Month accolade twice.

What’s next?

Arsenal is currently at the top of the Premier League table, one point clear of second-placed Manchester City. They will next play FK Bodø/Glimt in the UEFA Europa League.
