T20 World Cup: The entire cricket fraternity remembers how Team India dominated the inaugural edition of the Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007.
MS Dhoni and Co made it all the way to the finals of the competition. They got the better of Pakistan in the nail-biting encounter to win the maiden title.
However, since then, they failed to make strides to go for the coveted trophy once again. In fact, they came a bit too close to winning the second title.
Nonetheless, Sri Lankan cricket team ruined their plans in the intriguing final of the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup 2014 edition.
Now that the showpiece event is just around the corner, Rohit Sharma and Co will surely be making a bid for the honour in Australia.
They do have ammunition in their batting attack and if they could amplify their efforts in bowling, they do have a great chance of cracking the code this time.
India will kick-start their campaign on October 23 as they will lock horns with the Pakistan cricket team at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Team India will have to be at their best to beat their arch-rivals. As many as 45 games will be played in the tournament. The finals of the competition will kick off on November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Meanwhile, Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the showpiece event has released a promo featuring Virat Kohli on its official Twitter handle.
The video clip stars Virat Kohli and it talks about how long it’s been since India won the T20 World Cup. It also has a memory of India’s best moment in T20 World Cup 2007.
During the nail-biting final, Sreesanth takes a brilliant catch to dismiss Misbah-ul-Haq. Commentator Ravi Shastri can be heard saying, “In the air, Sreesanth takes it, India WIN!”.
